I need to get a list of users from a DOORS database with help of C#. Can anybody provide a sample code if there is a possibility?

Thanks in advance

There are quite some example for calling DOORS from c#. Just search for "c#". In the simple case of getting a userlist however, i would suggest using a DOORS DXL batch file and write the output to a file. Regards, Mathias

Hello,

Yes, i can get the userlist VIA DXL itself from DOORS.But my requirement is, get the userlist from DOORS database without opening DOORS. Are there any possibilities are there as i am new to DXL.

Thanks in advance.

Its remotely possible to write a suitable client that communicates directly with the DOORS service but I doubt there's more than one person who has ever done that successfully, even just to prove the concept. If you are actually ON the DOORS server there is a better chance of you accessing the database files directly, de-encrypt them, and check it out, but I doubt there's more than a handful of folks who have ever done that, if for no other reason just to prove it.

No, as Mathias said you need to run the DOORS client. Dumping the user list is pretty easy but you will need to invoke DOORS via a command line switch hard coding the password of some database administrator, and will need then to run the DXL in batch mode where DOORS starts, runs the DXL to generate the report, and exits without displaying any interface.

This chore does not seem realistic for DXL newfolks.
